Center for Biblical Integration

Seeing the World Through the Lens of God’s Word

The Center for Biblical Integration (CBI) supports administration, faculty, and students in their pursuit of understanding the world through God’s Word. Biblical Worldview Integration (BWI) is a central commitment in Liberty University’s core values, influencing both academic and non-academic areas.

BWI can be simply defined as “biblical principles permeate everything.” Christian thinkers don’t put God into their subjects – He is already there. The Trinitarian Godhead has created all things and holds all things together (Colossians 1:15-20). Faculty will set the roadmap for classes and students as they consider their fields of study from a Hebraic-Christian perspective.

CBI offers services to faculty, including group presentations, subject direction, individual support, and classroom talks. We also help students synthesize biblical principles with their coursework.

Presentations

Liberty’s schools, colleges, and centers can request specific PowerPoint lectures on implementing BWI in their areas of focus. For each presentation, a PDF of the slides and any other resources will be made available to the group. The seminars will address the work of that discipline, providing detailed examples of BWI implementation.

Subject Direction

CBI will participate in discussions with faculty about their fields of inquiry. The pursuit of biblical intersection with any discipline can be achieved through dialogue and further study. Resources (books, articles) can be made available upon request or during interdisciplinary discourse.

Individual Support

Any faculty member can request personal help with practicing BWI at any time for any academic purpose. Targeting specific concerns is a benefit toward university fulfillment in BWI.

Classroom Speaking

CBI encourages faculty to leverage the BWI’s expertise. Any presentation can be tailored to specific disciplines or classroom focus areas. As a guest speaker, Dr. Eckel would bring his K-12 through undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. programs teaching content and methodology to intersect with any classroom interests.

The Christian Professors Project Video Series

Liberty’s Center for Biblical Integration (CBI) partnered with the International Alliance for Christian Education (IACE) and the Colson Center on the Christian Professors Project.

This project examines the integration of Christian faith across different areas of study in higher education.

How does your Christian faith interpret your discipline? In what ways does it impact your methodologies and approaches? The Christian Professors Project has created the following resources to help you answer these questions.

The video series provides specific, immediately applicable ideas of how you can think and teach distinctively in the realm of higher education as Christians.
