From Calling to Impact: Piper Harris’ Journey in Mental Health

After nearly 20 years away from school, Piper Harris (Class of ’23) returned to complete the education she had once begun and pursue her calling in mental health. That journey eventually brought her to Liberty University, where her education strengthened both her professional foundation and her faith.

Today, Piper is the founder of Untangled Mind, a Georgia-based counseling practice specializing in adult trauma and anxiety. In addition to working directly with clients, she has expanded her work into clinical education and innovation, developing the Untangled Mind™ Assessment Engine to help clinicians use assessment data to guide treatment decisions. She also provides professional training in measurement-based care and continues to mentor Liberty students.

Her clinical work focuses particularly on victims of violent crime, first responders, and professionals who experience repeated exposure to trauma through their work. She has also contributed to broader conversations about mental health standards and access to effective care through collaboration with clinical, legal, and public-service leaders.

Her advice to students is to “become excellent at what you do, find people who will help you become better, maintain the boundaries and judgment the work demands, and do not be ashamed of Christ while doing it.”

For Piper, Liberty was more than the completion of a degree. It was the closing of a chapter that had been open for nearly two decades and the beginning of a calling she continues to pursue today.
