More Alumni Spotlight articlesGrant (’17, ’18) and Calli (’18) Garvin met during their senior year at Liberty, an encounter they describe as anything but accidental. Grant, a Division I men’s hockey player majoring in Business and Interdisciplinary Studies (later completing his MBA), and Calli, a Social Work major, both credit Liberty with shaping their faith, values, and lifelong community.
After graduation, the couple stepped into corporate careers, but God soon opened an unexpected door: a single opportunity for Calli to design wedding florals. That one wedding grew into Cal & Lily Floral, a thriving business now serving 25–30 weddings each year. As demand grew, they expanded into flower farming, starting in their front yard and eventually moving operations to their family orchard in Minnesota. Today, Cal & Lily Flower Farm offers a boutique U-Pick experience where families, brides, and children can enjoy seasonal flowers and connect with nature.
Now parents of three daughters, the Garvins are building a family-centered, Christ-centered business while navigating life as entrepreneurs. They say Liberty prepared them for this season by deepening their faith, teaching real-life skills, and surrounding them with friendships that still feel like family relationships that continue to guide them long after graduation.
Their story is one of following God’s lead, embracing unexpected opportunities, and trusting His timing. Their advice to current students?
