Dave Keim and his wife, Kay, had the opportunity to meet William Byron at the Martinsville Speedway back in October, and Byron was able to sign their replica of his car. Dave and Kay happen to be residents of North Carolina, which is the home of NASCAR. Dave, a graduate from LU in 1986, responded when asked about cheering for William Byron, “I am proud to see Liberty on the car as a sponsor!” They both enjoy the excitement of the Martinsville Speedway and attend other NASCAR events throughout the year.
Dave was first introduced to Liberty University by his mother, Mae Keim. She was a fan of Dr. Falwell and supported the Old Time Gospel Hour TV with her husband. The TV program was run through Thomas Road Baptist Church and featured Dr. Falwell as well as the Sunday morning service every week. Mae and her husband, Lawrence, taught their son an important lesson: “You cannot outgive the Lord.” Dave lives this out by staying in contact with and blessing his friends from back at his time at LU. He has made many lifetime friendships at Liberty and has continued to maintain these relationships throughout the years. His experience, memories, and education at Liberty University continue to impact his life nearly 40 years later.
