Fresh off their victory at Georgia State University, the Liberty Debate team travelled to Clarion University last week where they extended an impressive early-season streak, winning both the varsity and novice divisions. The Flames finished the preliminary rounds with the top seed in varsity, junior varsity and novice — advancing 13 of their 15 teams to the elimination rounds.

Student Activities sponsored the first Campus Artist Series of the semester Wednesday night in the new Tilley Student Center, showcasing some of the best musical talent on campus. The free concert featured campus bands Stay Seventeen, And Get Up Soldier and Oh Captain.

The Falwells will soon add some Latin-American flavor to their home. Students whose parents are missionaries in Mexico presented several gifts from the country to Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. and his wife, Becki, on Friday to show their appreciation for scholarships to attend LU. Among the gifts were a plate from Puebla, a teakwood tray, Oaxaca pottery and a hand-painted coaster set. The sophomore and junior students were Katie Smith, Aaron Johnson, Andrea Flagg, Vasti Ortega, and Emily Boyter.
