Dr. Tim Clinton gave a motivational talk to Liberty students titled “Change Your Life” at Monday morning’s convocation service in the Vines Center. Clinton is the executive director of the Center for Counseling and Family Studies at Liberty University. He also serves as president of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

Enrollment in Liberty University’s Distance Learning Program topped the 25,000 student mark for the first time on Tuesday. Enrollment figures for the program were confirmed by LU Registrar Lawrence Shackleton in an e-mail to school officials. Officially, the 25,000th student enrolled at about 9:15 a.m.

The Liberty University campus is a little less active than usual, as students are on Spring Break through March 21. But that doesn’t mean LU students are less active. While many are home or on vacation enjoying time with family and friends, some have decided to use the break in service to others.

Dr. Kevin Chiarizzio, Liberty University’s associate professor of music, brass and music education, was a featured performer last week at one of the largest events in the world for trombonists. The Eastern Trombone Workshop (ETW), sponsored by the U.S. Army Band, is held at Brucker Hall — the band’s state-of-the-art performance center —located in historic Fort Myer, Va., across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C.

Todd Smith, a professor at Liberty University, recently traveled to England to speak at Oxford University. Smith, director of the Visual Communications Arts program at Liberty, spoke at Saint Hugh’s College, Oxford University, as part of a chapel lecture series focusing on the theme “Dominus Illuminatio Mea” (“The Lord is My Light”), which is the motto of Oxford University.

Liberty students had the chance to hear from the pastor of the largest evangelical church in Europe at the March 12 convocation service. Pastor Sunday Adelaja is the founder of The Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations, in Kiev, Ukraine.

Michael Hall has been named the new director of Liberty’s winning debate team. Last season, LU’s debate team won all three national rankings by the national debate tournament’s governing organizations, a historic feat.

Dr. Randy Rebold, LU alumnus and seven-time Emmy award winning songwriter and producer, energized Monday morning convocation with a talk on Christian love. “We are the body. The Jesus in me loves the Jesus in you,” he said. “But He tells me that I should tell you (I love you) … we’re not even doing that. Let’s start communicating that we love one another.”

Liberty University's Board of Trustees met on campus Tuesday and received a full report on how the university is doing academically, spriritually and financially. "We had a wonderful day yesterday," LU Chancellor and President Jerry Falwell Jr. announced at Wednesday's convocation service. "They were more thrilled than I have ever seen them and they left here excited."

The late Rev. Jerry Falwell was enthralled with Lynchburg’s Montview, also known as the Carter Glass Mansion. Falwell had a love for Virginia’s history. For years, the two-story stone structure at the center of the Liberty University campus served as office space for LU’s chancellor and president.

Dr. Ergun Caner, president of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, was a guest on "The Rick and Bubba Show,” a nationwide radio call-in show, on Feb. 28. From their recording studio in Birmingham, AL, Caner discussed world religions and talked about the Seminary’s degree programs, including the development of a PhD in Theology and Apologetics.
