Students allowed excused absences to vote

The Liberty University Dean of Students Office announced on its website Monday, Nov. 4 that students who are tardy or absent from class Tuesday, Nov. 5 because they are voting will be given excused absences.

“Use your voice to say something meaningful,” the announcement said. “Vote in tomorrow’s gubernatorial election and make an impact, not only in Virginia, but in the United States.”

Students voting in the election will choose between Republican Ken Cuccinelli, Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Libertarian Robert Sarvis and will cast their votes for other offices as well.

The announcement also stated that residential students can vote in the Vines Center from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. and that shuttles will transport students to and from Annex 1, Annex 2 and Sheffield Elementary School from 6 a.m.-7:15 p.m.
