As the most widely used sign language in North America, Central America and Africa, the field of American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation is growing rapidly. Our Bachelor of Arts in American Sign Language and Interpretation provides the sign language and interpretation skills you need to serve and advocate for the Deaf community as a Champion for Christ. Throughout this degree, you will study the theoretical and practical understanding of interpreting American Sign Language to English and vice versa, along with a general education background in science, math, research techniques, technology, and religion.
Our ASL degree program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skill set needed to bridge communication and cultural gaps as skilled ASL interpreters.

- Skilled interpreters are in demand by video relay services, churches, schools, medical offices, and other organizations.
- You can use your skill by volunteering with an organization or prepare for chance encounters in your workplace, church, or other areas to help Deaf individuals.

Admission Requirements for Our Undergraduate Degree Programs
Every application is reviewed by the admission committee on a case-by-case basis, meaning there are no set minimums for acceptance. However, all applicants must submit the following documents* for admission:
- Admission application
- Official high school transcripts
- Official college transcripts (if applicable)
- Results from the CLT, SAT, or ACT are not required for admission, but may be used in consideration for merit-based aid.
- Admission essay
*Note that additional documentation may be requested by the admission committee after your application has been received.
Internship and Study Abroad Opportunities with a B.A. in American Sign Language and Interpretation
- ASLI (American Sign Language and Interpreting) students have the opportunity to work in Guatemala serving with the Guatemalan Deaf Ministries while earning their degree.
- You’ll have the chance to get real-life experience for your future career through a hands-on practicum and internship that may include working with the university’s own interpreting service agency (Liberty University Interpreting Services), with the university’s Washington Fellowship, or at various other locations nationwide.
- Participate in silent dinners and church services that will help you get to know our local Deaf community.
