Accreditation ensures that Liberty University has met strict standards with regard to degree programs, faculty, administration, student support, and services. Accreditation also ensures that courses taken and degrees earned through Liberty University will be accepted by other accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Schools participate in the accreditation process in order to gain third-party recognition that verifies the institution meets certain standards of academic and administrative quality and is committed to continual improvement.
As an accredited institution, Liberty University is eligible to participate in federal education programs such as military tuition assistance, government tuition reimbursement programs, the GI Bill®, and corporate tuition assistance. Credits and degrees earned through Liberty are therefore recognized by private industry and by the military and federal government for promotion, assignment, and position qualification standards.

Liberty’s Athletic Training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
Liberty’s School of Business has achieved voluntary accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), demonstrating it has met standards of business education that promote teaching excellence.
Liberty’s residential Ph.D. Counselor Education and Supervision, M.A. Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and M.A. in Marriage and Family Counseling programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
Liberty’s M.Ed. in School Counseling program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
Liberty University is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) Standards through the CAEP Accreditation System for a period of 7 years from 2015-2022.

- Liberty’s Teacher Licensure Program is approved by the Association of Christian Schools International (ASCI).
Liberty’s Engineering program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Programs that have received accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET are our B.S. in Computer Engineering, B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
Our B.S. in Computer Science has received accreditation from the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.
Liberty’s Exercise Science program is accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Liberty’s bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing, as well as the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Liberty’s Registered Nurse program is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing (VBN).
The Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine is provisionally accredited by the American Osteopathic Association Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (AOA-COCA) in the United States.
School of Law
Liberty University School of Law is accredited by the Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar of the American Bar Association (ABA).
School of Music
The Liberty University School of Music is accredited by and a member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). NASM accredits all music programs. The School of Music also offers two degrees that are not music degrees: the Master of Arts in Worship Studies and the Doctor of Worship Studies.
Liberty University has received specialized accreditation for its sport management programs through the Commission on Sports Management Education (COSMA) located in Arlington, Virginia. The sport management programs in the following degrees are accredited by COSMA:
