Understanding language and how to communicate is an essential skill in every field. Some students need additional help with their speech skills for a variety of reasons. Helping these students improve their communication abilities is integral in helping them grow to be successful, employable adults.

If you are interested in helping children and adolescents learn to communicate effectively, then Liberty University’s Speech Education Certificate may be the program for you. This certificate is designed for licensed teachers or student teachers who are currently pursuing licensure. The speech education certificate can help you gain an add-on speech education endorsement for another valuable credential in your education career.

We have an Educational Technology Lab that provides students with resources, software, and equipment, including laptops, Apple TVs, digital cameras, and USB microphones.
If you are a licensed teacher or currently pursuing your license, this certificate can provide you with add-on licensure in speech education.

Career Advancement for Speech Education Certificate Graduates

This certificate is designed to provide licensed teachers or student teachers currently pursuing licensure with an add-on endorsement in speech education. This credential will provide you with the knowledge you will need to be an effective speech and communication teacher for grades 6-12.

Facilities and Resources Available to Speech Education Students

You will have access to a variety of resources, software, and equipment through our on-campus Educational Technology Lab.
Licensed teachers can use this certificate to earn add-on licensure to teach middle or high school speech classes.
You can complete this certificate in just one semester.

Admission Requirements for Our Undergraduate Certificates

Every application is reviewed by the admission committee on a case-by-case basis, meaning there are no set minimums for acceptance. However, all applicants must submit the following documents* for admission:

Admission application
Official high school transcripts
Official college transcripts (if applicable)
Results from the CLT, SAT, or ACT are not required for admission, but may be used in consideration for merit-based aid.
