Did I tell you about the time I was trying to vote and the whole world was against me?
The last presidential election was anything but simple for me. The chaotic day began as I drove back to campus after attending a job interview.
I planned on voting once I got back to campus, which, in theory, would save time and allow me to collect an SD card I had left in my dorm to finish a project before the midnight deadline.
The drive was going smoothly until the traffic came to a halt because a collision had blocked the highway. After slowing to a stop, I was stuck for hours until the authorities could clear the wreckage.
A few hours later, I was finally able to get rolling again.
I made it back to my dorm around 2 p.m. With plenty of time left before the polls closed, I decided to grab the SD card and my laptop and walk all the way down to Montview.
The ballroom was packed. I knew it would take a while for it to be my turn to vote. To make matters worse, I also had to register to vote, so the whole process was going to take some time.
Not wanting to stand in line forever, and because I had missed lunch, I decided to grab a quick bite before I voted.
For some reason, everyone else had the same idea. I waited in a long line to order and then waited even longer to get my food. Eventually, I received my to-go bag.
It was the wrong order.
Disappointed, I decided to venture back into the ballroom, but it was still full. So, I sat in a nearby chair, opened my laptop and connected my SD card so I could quickly brighten some photos for my project.
Then disaster struck. My files had somehow become corrupted, and I lost all of my progress. I looked at my watch and rushed back to my dorm to grab my camera.
I spent the next few hours trying to redo everything I had lost. Thankfully, I was able to get the project done in record time.
After that, I rushed back to Montview right before the polls closed, just in time to register and vote.
Whether it is a presidential election or a local one, you should always vote. Your vote matters, and it impacts who gets elected.
It is probably also a good idea to plan before Election Day, so you don’t end up in a situation like I did. That’s all for this adventure. I’ll see you in the next one!
