Cameron to speak

Homecoming weekend will kick off Friday, Oct. 5, when Kirk Cameron speaks at Liberty’s convocation.

Cameron, a popular evangelist, documentary filmmaker and former child actor, will share his story of faith, struggle and success.

Cameron first entered America’s radar when he was cast as Mike Seaver in the ‘80s sitcom, “Growing Pains.” According to his website, he was a self-proclaimed atheist at the age of 14. The realization that he did not know his eternal fate led him to seek the will of God.

Cameron’s career direction changed following his salvation. According to his website, he took the leading role of Cameron “Buck” Williams in the movie trilogy based on the “Left Behind” book series by Tim LaHaye, and he starred in the inspirational Christian film “Fireproof,” which stunned the media when it reached the status of the highest grossing independent film of 2008.
