Impact the World for Christ

Liberty University students and alumni bring influence and integrity to every corner of the professional world, and 21-year-old William Byron is no exception. The Liberty University Online business communication student and Charlotte, N.C., native has succeeded at every level of his racing career. Being crowned the NASCAR Cup Series 2018 Rookie of the Year, Byron has now won this honor in four straight racing seasons, including the Xfinity Series, Camping World Truck Series, and the K&N Pro Series East. He is only the second driver in NASCAR history to sweep these honors in four consecutive seasons.

Although being Rookie of the Year is an honor, Byron is looking forward to taking his rookie stripes off the car and staying in the same environment for two years in a row. He is eager to build on his successful racing career as a NASCAR Cup Series driver, and Liberty University, which has supported Byron’s racing career since 2014, is excited to maintain their partnership with the champion for the upcoming season.

In 2019, Byron will continue to drive the No. 24 Liberty University Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for legendary Hendrick Motorsports but will have the seven-time Cup Series crew chief champion Chad Knaus leading his team.
