Throughout the Fall 2025 semester, students gathered in the Vines Center twice a week for Convocation — the largest weekly gathering of Christian young people in the world — where they heard from a wide variety of voices influencing the world today. Watch current and archived Convocations on Liberty’s YouTube channel.
Robertson Family
Several members of the Robertson family from TV’s “Duck Dynasty” shared the stage on Nov. 7 (see photo above). It was the first visit by the family since the passing of Willie’s father and Duck Commander’s founder, Phil Robertson, in May. They spoke about Phil’s legacy, and Liberty presented a bench in his honor that is now located at Liberty Lake. The family shared how they’ve used their time in the public eye to reflect Christ and how Liberty has strengthened them in their faith and careers. Four family members are Liberty alumni.
Bob Goff
Thousands of College For a Weekend (CFAW) students and parents heard from New York Times bestselling author and speaker Bob Goff, who shared a vibrant message of being messengers of hope and faith-led love to the world. Goff penned “Love Does” and “Everybody Always” and has remained a popular Convocation speaker at Liberty for more than a decade.
Boris Johnson
Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson reminded students to safeguard the vital freedoms that built America and sustain Western civilization. He provided a brief survey of global geopolitics, outlining the rising conflicts between Israel and its surrounding Muslim nations and the tensions between Russia and Ukraine. He said these conflicts are a direct result of the divergence from freedom and that the “freedom-loving spirit” of America that was mobilized by people like Liberty founder Dr. Jerry Falwell is greatly needed today.
Hamas Attack Survivors
On Oct. 22, students heard the testimonies of two survivors of the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel, Noam Ben David (left) and Moran Stela Yanai (middle). The panel was moderated by Noa Tishby (right0, a bestselling author and Israel’s former special envoy for combating antisemitism and delegitimization.
Bear Grylls
British Emmy Award-winning TV host Bear Grylls, star of the popular wilderness survival shows “Man vs. Wild” and “Running Wild with Bear Grylls,” shared how his faith has been his ultimate adventure. He recounted exploits in some of the most precarious corners of Earth and said whether he was stuck in quicksand, pinned in rapids, or caught in rock falls or avalanches, he learned to “lean on the beautiful presence of Christ within me.” He also spoke about his latest book on Christ’s life, “The Greatest Story Ever Told.”
Louie Giglio
The pastor of Passion City Church in Atlanta, Ga., and founder of the Passion Institute encouraged students to rest in knowing they are justified by their faith in Christ rather than keep viewing themselves as irredeemable sinners without hope. He said Christ’s righteousness causes us to leave our old ways behind, to champion right instead of wrong, and if we try to use good works to get in right standing with God, we will never become closer to the standard of righteousness through Jesus.
Michael McCoy
The Oct. 24 Convocation was a time to both remember and honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk, who was originally scheduled to speak at the Convocation and at a Standing for Freedom Center summit that weekend. Michael McCoy, chief of staff for Turning Point USA and close confidant of Kirk, honored his slain friend with a message that challenged students to embrace hope and courage as Kirk did. McCoy joined forces with Kirk six years ago, at age 18, and followed Kirk to many of his college campus events.
