Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Post-MSN) – Oregon

Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of Oregon students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.

Oregon State License Requirements:

a. RN License.

i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. Oregon is not a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration, therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of Oregon, the student must hold an active Oregon RN license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator

b. APRN License Application Requirements

i. Education
1. Applicants must have completed a Master’s Degree in Nursing in the APRN area of specialty, or a Master’s Degree congruent with the licensure being applied for, or a Doctorate in Nursing. Official Transcripts must be submitted by the Educational Institution to the Board of Nursing. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office.
2. Applicants must have graduated from their APRN program within the last two years; or have 400 hours of active APRN practice within their population foci within the two years preceding receipt of completed application; or, Graduated from a post-master’s certificate in the APRN role applied for within the last two years; or, be within two years of completion of a Board approved re-entry program; or, have applied for re-entry per OAR 051-053-0030.
3.If applying for advanced practice licensure with prescriptive privilege (PP), the applicant must show completion of initial education program within two years prior to the application date providing at least 45 contact hours of advanced pharmacology concepts; or, evidence of completion of a 30-hour discrete pharmacology course congruent with the specialty role sought and an additional 15 contact hours in pharmacological management congruent with the licensure being sought and population foci for a total of 45 contact hours. ii. Certification
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.

a. Will LUSON support practicum placement in Oregon?

Liberty University School of Nursing students are approved for practicum in the State of Oregon

b. Are there any specific requirements to consider when completing practicum in Oregon?

i. Students completing practicum in the State of Oregon must hold an active Oregon Registered Nurse License.
ii. An APRN student must practice under the direct supervision of a Board-approved Oregon preceptor. Inter-professional preceptors may be utilized; however, the majority (51% or greater) of the student’s clinical practicums in Oregon must be completed under a Board-approved preceptor licensed in Oregon in the same APRN role or in a practice with the same congruent patient population as the students focus population.
