Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Post-MSN) – Alaska
Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of Alaska students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.
Alaska State License Requirements:
a. RN License.
i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. Alaska is not a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration, therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of Alaska, the student must hold an active, Alaska RN license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator.
b. APRN License Application Requirements
i. Education
1. Applicants must provide documentation of graduation from a graduate or post-graduate nursing degree program for the relevant specialization. Transcripts must be submitted by the educational institution to the Alaska Board of Nursing. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office.
2. Applicants seeking prescriptive authority shall provide evidence of completion of 15 contact hours of education in advanced pharmacology and clinical management of drug therapy within the two-year period immediately before the date of application.
ii. Certification:
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.

Liberty University School of Nursing students are approved for practicum in the State of Alaska.
b. Are there any specific requirements to consider when completing practicum in Alaska?
i. Students completing practicum in the State of Alaska must hold an Alaska Registered Nurse License, or a Multi-State RN License.
