Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Post-BSN) – South Carolina

Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of South Carolina students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.

South Carolina State License Requirements:

a. RN License.

i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. South Carolina is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration, therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of South Carolina, the student must hold an active, South Carolina or Multi-State RN license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator

b. APRN License Application Requirements

i. Education
a. The South Carolina Board of Nursing requires official transcripts from an advanced, organized, formal education program appropriate to the practice and acceptable by the SC BON, completed within the two years prior to applying for Prescriptive Authority. Transcripts must be submitted to the Board in a sealed envelope, or through email, from the educational program. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office.

b. Applicants must Provide evidence of completion of forty-five (45) contact hours of education in pharmacotherapeutics acceptable to the board within two (2) years before application. At least fifteen (15) of the forty-five (45) hours should be in controlled substances to pursue a DEA license.

ii. Certification:
Applicants must hold current specialty certification by a board-approved credentialing organization. New graduates shall provide evidence of certification within one year of program completion. This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.
