Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Post-BSN) – Ohio
Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of Ohio students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.
Ohio State License Requirements:
a. RN License.
i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. Ohio is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration, therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of Ohio, the student must hold an active Ohio or multi-state RN license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator
b. APRN License Application Requirements
i. Education
1. Applicants applying for initial licensure must have earned a master’s or doctoral degree with a major in nursing that qualifies you to sit for a national certification examination. Applicants must request their institution send a copy of their official transcript to the Ohio Board of Nursing. The applicant’s transcript must reflect graduation date, earned degree, and completion of the Advanced Pharmacology requirements. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office.
2. Ohio Board of Nursing requires no less than forty-five contact hours in advanced pharmacology, which must be completed no longer than five years before applying for licensure. ii. Certification
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.
iii. Requirements Beyond Education Program
First-time APRN applicants who have completed an APRN education program that is not located in Ohio, must complete the two hours of CE on Ohio law governing drugs and prescriptive authority, if it was not included in the advanced pharmacology course you completed as part of your APRN education program.
