Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Post-BSN) – Missouri

Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of Missouri students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.

Missouri State License Requirements:

a. RN License.

i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. Missouri is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration, therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of Missouri, the student must hold an active, Missouri or Multi-State RN license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator

b. APRN License Application Requirements

i. Education
1.The Missouri Board of Nursing requires official transcripts from a Masters or higher degree program for the relevant specialty. Transcripts must be submitted to the Board in a sealed envelope, or through email, from the educational program. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office.
2. In addition to an official transcript, applicants may need to provide documentation to the MO BON, verifying completion of a minimum of 500 faculty-supervised practicum hours. To receive documentation verifying practicum hours completed during this program, the applicant should reach out to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator
3. To receive Controlled Substance Prescriptive Authority, applicant must provide evidence of successful completion of three (3) credit hours post-baccalaureate course in advanced pharmacology from an accredited college or university within the last five (5) years or 45 continuing education units in pharmacology within the last five years.

ii. Certification:
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.

1. Students completing practicum in the State of Missouri must hold a Missouri Registered Nurse License, or a Multi-State RN License.
2. Students must complete their precepted experience with a qualified preceptor, as outlined by the MO BON. A qualified preceptor is defined as: a) An APRN with a current unrestricted RN license, who has a scope of practice which includes prescribing, and has met the requirements for prescriptive authority, or b) a licensed practitioner of medicine or osteopathy with unrestricted prescriptive authority
