Family Nurse Practitioner – Nevada

Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of Nevada students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.

Nevada State License Requirements:

a. RN License.

i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. Nevada is not a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration, therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of Nevada, the student must hold an active, Nevada RN license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator

b. APRN License Application Requirements

i. Education
1.The Nevada Board of Nursing requires official transcripts from a Masters or higher degree program for the relevant specialty. Transcripts must be submitted to the Board in a sealed envelope, or through email, from the educational program. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office.
2. If you graduated from your APRN program more than two years prior to the date you submit your application, you must submit proof that you have clinically practiced at least 1,000 hours as an APRN. Acceptable proof includes a letter on letterhead from a previous employer, a letter from a collaborating physician, or another APRN that you worked with. If you have not practiced at least 1,000 hours as an APRN and you graduated more than two years ago, you must submit an agreement with a collaborative physician to complete 1,000 hours of supervised practice without the ability to prescribe.
3. Applicants requesting licensure to prescribe schedule II controlled substances must submit documentary evidence that they have practiced at least 2 years, or 2,000 hours as an APRN, or a signed protocol with a collaborating physician for the prescribing of schedule II controlled substances

ii. Certification:
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.
