Family Nurse Practitioner – New Jersey
Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of New Jersey students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.
New Jersey State License Requirements:
a. RN License.
i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. New Jersey is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration, therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of New Jersey, the student must hold an active, New Jersey or Multi-State RN license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator
b. APRN License Application Requirements
i. Education
The New Jersey Board of Nursing requires official transcripts reflecting completion of a masters degree in nursing, in the clinical area of specialty, from a school accredited by a nursing accrediting association recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; or, a masters degree in nursing and shall have completed a post-masters program that
focuses on an advanced practice nursing specialty from a school accredited by a nursing accrediting association recognized by the U.S. Department of Education . Transcripts must be submitted to the Board in a sealed envelope, or through email, from the educational program. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office. Transcript must reflect 45 contact hours in pharmacology completed within 5 years prior to the date of application.
ii. Certification:
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.

a. Will LUSON support practicum placement in New Jersey?
Liberty University School of Nursing students are approved for practicum in the State of New Jersey.
b. Are there any specific requirements to consider when completing practicum in New Jersey?
i. Students completing practicum in the State of New Jersey must hold a New Jersey Registered Nurse License, or a Multi-State RN License.
ii. New Jersey requests the School of Nursing submit program, preceptor and site information to the Board of Nursing, prior to the clinical start date.
