Family Nurse Practitioner – Montana

Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of Montana students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.

Montana State License Requirements:

a. RN License.

i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. Montana is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration, therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of Montana, the student must hold an active, Montana or Multi-State RN license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator

b. APRN License Application Requirements

i. Education
1.The Montana Board of Nursing requires official transcripts from a Masters or higher degree program for the relevant specialty. Transcripts must be submitted to the Board in a sealed envelope, or through email, from the educational program. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office.
2. In addition to an official transcript, applicants may need to provide documentation to the MT BON, verifying completion of practicum hours. To receive documentation verifying practicum hours completed during this program, the applicant should reach out to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator
3. Montana APRNs apply separately for their prescriptive authority. Advanced practice nurses who graduated in the most recent five-year period will be expected to demonstrate coursework in 1) advanced pharmacology and 2) differential diagnosis/ disease management. Pharmacology coursework is to include pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacotherapeutics; it is to comprise at least three semester hours. The applicant will provide evidence of having had a supervised practice experience that integrated pharmacological interventions. Applicants who graduated more than five years in the past, and do not currently hold prescriptivie authority from another board jurisdicition, may complete a three-semester hour course or 45 hours of continuing education that includes the three required pharmacology topics.

ii. Certification:
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.
