Family Nurse Practitioner – Louisiana

Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of Louisiana students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.

Louisiana State License Requirements:

a. RN License.

i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. To participate in practicum in Louisiana the student must hold, at minimum, an active Louisiana or multi-state RN license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator

b. APRN License Application Requirements

i. Education
1. Applicants must possess a minimum of a graduate degree or post graduate award with a concentration in the respective APRN role and population focus from an accredited college or university that meets the curriculum guidelines established by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
2. Consideration may be given to those who had completed or been continuously enrolled in a formalized post-basic education program, preparing for the APRN role and population focus, prior to December 31, 1995
3. Completion of the APRN educational program must have occurred within the 2 years preceding the date of application.
4. Applicants must request their education program send transcripts to LSBN. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office.
5. In addition to submission of transcripts, applicants must also provide an Education Verification Form, completed by a School of Nursing Official, which must be submitted directly by the school to LSBN.

ii. Certification
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.

i.  Students completing practicum in the state of Louisiana must hold an active Louisiana or Multi-State Registered Nurse License.
ii. Student Practicum Site information must be submitted by the Educational Institution to LSBN, prior to the Clinical Start-Date.
