Family Nurse Practitioner – Alabama
Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of Alabama students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.
Alabama State License Requirements:
a. RN License.
i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. Alabama is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration, therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of Alabama, the student must hold an active, multi-state RN license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator.
b. APRN License Application Requirements
i. Education
The Alabama Board of Nursing requires official transcripts from a Master’s or higher degree program for the specialty. Transcripts must be submitted to the Board in a sealed envelope, or through email, from the educational program. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office.
ii. Certification:
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.

a. Will LUSON support practicum placement in Alabama?
Liberty University School of Nursing students are approved for practicum in the State
Of Alabama.
b. Are there any specific requirements to consider when completing practicum in Alabama?
i. Students completing practicum in the State of Alabama must hold an Alabama Registered Nurse License, or a Multi-State RN License.
ii. The Alabama Board of Nursing must receive notice, from Liberty University School of Nursing, a minimum of 15 days in advance of all APRN clinicals being conducted in the State of Alabama. These documents will be submitted by the School of Nursing once a student’s Practicum Paperwork has been reviewed and approved by the School of Nursing.
