Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – Rhode Island

Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of Rhode Island students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.

Rhode Island State License Requirements:

a. RN License.

i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. Rhode Island is not a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration, therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of Rhode Island, the student must hold an active, Rhode Island license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator

b. APRN License Application Requirements

i. Education
The Rhode Island Board of Nursing requires official transcripts from an APRN graduate or post-graduate program, as evidenced by official documentation received directly from an APRN program accredited by a nursing accrediting body that is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or its successor organization, as acceptable by the Board. Transcripts must be submitted to the Board in a sealed envelope, or through email, from the educational program. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office.

ii. Certification:
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.
