Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – North Dakota

Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of North Dakota students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.

North Dakota State License Requirements:

a. RN License.

i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. North Dakota is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration, therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of North Dakota the student must hold, at minimum, an active North Dakota RN or multi-state license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator

b. APRN License Application Requirements

i. Education
Applicants must submit evidence of completion of an accredited graduate-level advanced practice registered nurse program in one of the four roles and with at least one population focus. Applicants must request their education program send transcripts to the ND BON. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office

ii. Certification
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.

Practicum Placement Support – Frequently Asked Questions:

a. Will LUSON support practicum placement in North Dakota?

Liberty University School of Nursing students are approved for practicum in the State
Of North Dakota.

b. Are there any specific requirements to consider when completing practicum as a non-resident of an approved state?

i.  Students completing practicum in the State of North Dakota must hold a North Dakota Registered Nurse License, or a Multi-State RN License.
ii. The North Dakota Board of Nursing must receive notice from Liberty University School of Nursing, prior to all APRN clinicals being conducted in the State of North Dakota. These documents will be submitted by the School of Nursing once a student’s Practicum Paperwork has been reviewed and approved by the School of Nursing.
