Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – Minnesota

Liberty University and the School of Nursing meet all requirements for enrollment of Minnesota students in this program. All students are required to have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License prior to enrollment.

Minnesota State License Requirements:

a. RN License.

i. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license for any Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner program.
ii. Minnesota is not a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact Administration; therefore, to participate in practicum in the state of Minnesota, the student must hold an active, unencumbered Minnesota RN license.
iii. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the Liberty University School of Nursing Online Student Support Coordinator.

b. APRN License Application Requirements

i. Education
1. Applicants must provide documentation of graduation from a graduate-level accredited APRN program, in the Nurse Practitioner Role for the Psychiatric and Mental Health population focus. Applicants must request their educational institution send a copy of the official transcript to the MN BON. To request an official transcript, you may reach out to the Registrar’s office.
2. Applicants must also complete the first page of the Confirmation of Program Completion for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse form and forward the two page form to the APRN program they completed by fax, email, or mail.  The APRN program must complete page 2 of the form, then mail both pages to the MN BON. To access this form, click on the following link: Confirmation of Program Completion for APRN Form.  If it has been more than five years since you have practiced as an APRN or have completed the APRN program, you will need to complete a Board approved reorientation plan upon licensure.  Please contact the Minnesota Board of Nursing for more information.

ii. Certification:
This program meets requirements for eligibility to sit for national certification examinations.
