Liberty University’s Class of 2013 left a legacy of life at the 40th Commencement, with Student Body President Chad Atchison, Senior Class President Chelsea Patterson, and Vice President Andy Thigpen presenting a $25,000 senior class gift to the Liberty Godparent Home, accepted by Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr.
The Godparent Home is a pro-life ministry of Thomas Road Baptist Church in Central Virginia that opens its doors to women under the age of 18 dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. It operates in partnership with Family Life Services, a faith-based adoption agency committed to the sanctity of human life.
“The senior class is proud to stand up and declare that we believe that life is the most fundamental of all of our God-given rights and it must be preserved and defended at all costs,” said Patterson, who was born in Bucharest, Romania, and adopted as a baby. She said the “right to life for the unborn is a significant passion, personally … and it matters to this generation, who refuses to be silent in the face of abortion’s genocide. As Christians, we must be the ones on the front lines of this issue and stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves. … In this way, the senior class can practically show the world that we value life and act as the hands and feet of Christ.”
