Professor provides nursing scholarship in her family name

May 31, 2015

Cindy Goodrich has been a registered nurse for over 40 years, and has taught for the last 19 at the Liberty University School of Nursing.

As a teacher, Goodrich trained her students to become caring nurses, and they now serve in hospitals and doctor’s offices both across the United States and around the world.

In addition to being a professor, Goodrich is impacting Liberty’s future another way. With the help of the Liberty University Estate Planning Department, Goodrich has established a nursing scholarship in her family’s name, through her living trust.

Through this scholarship, nursing students with financial needs during their junior year of study can receive assistance.

“I have a great love for the Liberty nursing students, so I felt that I could leave some type of legacy by establishing a fund for nursing scholarships in my family name,” Goodrich said. “I think that this is a wonderful way to help students in need of extra funds and to encourage them through an expensive and rigorous program.”

Goodrich also donated a $500 brick to the Jerry Falwell Library in memory of her late parents.

“Liberty University is a wonderful venue to serve the Lord,” she said. “It has been an exciting and inspiring experience to be a part of the ministry that Dr. Jerry Falwell started so many years ago. It really is the most exciting university in the world and one where I feel resources are put to good use.”
