Liberty University Homecoming 2013

September 20, 2013

The Liberty family spans several generations and extends across the globe, but during Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 18-19, thousands will return to the campus that meant so much to them to reunite with old friends, attend exciting events, view Liberty’s newest facilities, and cheer on the Big South champion Flames Football team.
Friday’s Convocation in the Vines Center will officially kick off Homecoming activities. A dinner will be held that night on the back lawn of the Hancock Welcome Center, followed by a family carnival.

“We are very excited to bring back the carnival this year,” said Tyler Falwell, director of Alumni Relations. “Last year’s record attendance proved to be the best setup for the majority of our alumni who have families, and I believe the word has spread, as this year we have more pre-registrants than ever before.”

New this year will be hot air balloon rides and a Ferris wheel.

On Saturday, Flames fans can attend the special Homecoming tailgate starting at noon ($5 per person), enjoy the annual Homecoming parade at 1 p.m., then fan the Flames as they take on conference rival Coastal Carolina at 3:30 p.m. In addition to football, alumni will have the chance to attend more sporting events throughout the weekend, including field hockey, soccer, volleyball, and hockey.

Several other events round out the weekend, bringing something for everyone. Guests can get spooked at Scaremare, view a production of “Les Misérables” at Tower Theater, or challenge themselves in the Deep Hollow Half Marathon and 5K trail races.

Alumni can register at www.Liberty.edu/Alumni/Homecoming and purchase tickets for special events. A welcome packet and tickets can be picked up at check-in, which begins as early as Thursday, Oct. 17 (no tickets will be mailed). View the full schedule online for more details.
