  • Flames Baseball received its highest-ever national ranking at No. 14 heading into its matchup against UNC, then-ranked No. 15, on March 8. LU won 1-0. At the time, outfielder Derek Orndorff was the home-run leader in NCAA Division I.

 

  • Basketball guard Darius McGhee finished the regular season as the nation’s leader in total points and 3-pointers made. After postseason play, he totaled 812 points and 142 3-pointers. He set the school record for most career 3-pointers with 366.

 

  • Quarterback Malik Willis finished the 2021 season setting a program record of 40 total touchdowns (27 passing, 13 rushing). He broke his previous record of 34 in 2020 (20 passing, 14 rushing).

 

  • Cross country runner Calli Doan set program records in the 5K (16:57.4 on Oct. 30 at the ASUN Championship) and 6K (19:50.6 on Nov. 20 at the NCAA Championship).

 

  • Several members of the men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams broke program records this season: Ally Kipchirchir, men’s indoor 800 (1:49.19); Ryan Drew, men’s indoor mile (4:01.27); Kennedy Sauder, men’s indoor high jump (7-2.5); Adelyn Ackley, women’s indoor 3K (9:24.96); and Ayanna Johnson, women’s indoor long jump (19-10.25).

 

  • Sophomore diver Maddie Freece set a new program record in 3-meter diving, scoring 320.75 in the A Final at the CCSA Championships.
