Old Pate Chapel Policies

  1. Completed forms must be turned in, approvals must be received, and all fees must be paid prior to the day of the event.
  2. Rental of Old Pate Chapel and The Bottling Co. includes 8 consecutive hours of access to both venues on the day of the wedding and 3 total hours of access the day before the wedding for rehearsal and decorating, to be divided between both venues. All setup and cleanup must be completed within this timeframe unless additional hours of access have been purchased.
  3. The Liberty University Events Office will assist you with the scheduling details for your event. You may contact the University Events Office at (434) 592-3511 or events@liberty.edu. A facility coordinator will be on-site the day of your event to unlock and lock the facility, protect the interests of the university, and ensure that all policies and regulations are followed. Please note: Facility coordinators are not day-of wedding or event planners and do not provide event coordination services.
  4. The applicant is responsible for providing and removing all decorations, wedding materials, and personal items. Items must be removed immediately following the event. All trash must be placed in trashcans.
  5. The applicant is responsible for any damage done to the facility, including any damage done to decorative items, furniture, or fixtures.
  6. All open-flame candles used for decorative purposes must be contained in a heat-resistant glass container. Candles used for ceremonial purposes must be dripless and placed on a protective covering to prevent damage to university property. Please note: The applicant is responsible for the removal of any wax residue, as well as any damage caused by the use of candles.
  7. Nails, staples, tacks, or tape may not be used on any surfaces. You may use ribbon, rubber bands, and/or Command™ strips. If you have questions about the use of a product, please contact the University Events Office.
  8. Any equipment brought into the facility must have protective coverings so as not to damage the wood floors. This includes, but is not limited to, catering equipment, DJ equipment, and decorative items.
  9. Live flowers are not permitted on the aisle at Old Pate Chapel, with the exception when an aisle runner is used, due to the potential for damage to the carpet. Live flowers, dried flowers, and biodegradable confetti may be thrown outside of the facilities; bubbles may also be used. The use of rice, birdseed, or sparklers is prohibited.
  10. A protective covering must be placed under all plants and flower arrangements.
  11. Alcohol is prohibited on all 701 Thomas Road premises.
  12. Smoking is prohibited in the courtyard area at The Bottling Co. and inside both facilities.
  13. Liberty University reserves the right to make its facilities available only for private events, weddings, and other ceremonies that are not inconsistent with the religious mission, doctrinal statement, and policies of the university.
  14. Caterers must provide proof of insurance and a valid business license.
  15. Rental of the Old Pate Chapel includes a sound technician for the rehearsal and ceremony, with up to four (4) hours of technician coverage combined between both days. Any additional technician time requested will incur an additional charge of $30 per hour. The applicant is responsible for supplying a device and playlist, as well as any live instruments needed. While a grand piano is available, all other instruments and necessary cords must be provided by the applicant. A wireless microphone and lapel mic are included with the rental.
  16. All wedding parties must provide a certificate of insurance. Additional information regarding insurance requirements will be provided by the University Events Office.
  17. All linen rental requests through the University Events Office must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event date. Any linens returned with irreparable damage, including but not limited to tears, cuts, or dye stains, will be subject to a replacement fee. Assessment of damages and applicable charges will be completed within two weeks following the event. The replacement fee is $25.00 per damaged linen.
