Online Safety Tips

If something doesn’t look or feel right, it probably isn’t.

Don’t wait for an uncertain or uncomfortable situation to go wrong. Leave, call police, or take other protective actions.

Take time to review personal safety information from an accurate and trustworthy source. Make sure that the websites you use are reliable and be cautious with public Wi-Fi.

Avoid online scams and extortion attempts by keeping your personal information private. Don’t give out your phone number, social media, social security information, or banking info to someone you don’t know.

Nothing on the internet is gone forever. What you put out on the internet can always be found. Be careful who you share images with and do not send nude photos; they can be used for extortion.

Suspicious activity should be reported to police, security, and/or campus safety officials. The problem is unknown unless you report it!
