How being patient can help the environment

Patience is a virtue.

That means it is a behavior of high standards.

Do you have weak standards?

No one wants to have weak standards, but we often forget to practice the Biblical principles that we hear about so often but these play a part in every area of our lives. You might agree with this, but still wondering how patience and the environment go together.

Overconsumption, fast food, fast fashion, and more all play a role in this. We live in a time of history like never before. It is so easy to get whatever we want whenever we want. That is not always the best choice though. Just because we can order something on amazon at 1 a.m. because someone we like on TikTok talked about it, does not mean that we actually need it. Practicing patience and waiting to make a purchase can help lots of things – our finances, our lack of control over instant gratification, and the environment used to get that 1 item to us. If you still want the item a week for now then, maybe, decide to order it.

When we are patient with our wants, we can slowly learn that we don’t need as much in life and that we can be content with less. This in turn helps us to be good stewards of the world that God blessed us with (Jeremiah 2:7 and Deuteronomy 11:12).
