Grad Connect

Grad-Connect is a monthly event held at the Jerry Falwell Library where graduate students can meet, collaborate, and interact with faculty and students from various graduate programs.

Dr. Richard Lane is back with us again!

Dr. Lane is the Director of the Master of Public Health Program.  He holds an MD in Tropical Medicine from Tulane University and is the lead medical trainer for the CrossRoads Global Team and a medical consultant and advisory board member for World Help.  Dr. Lane is not only knowledgeable in his field, but his humor and storytelling is sure to lift your spirits.


Every month Graduate Student Life features residential graduate students who have influenced the lives of others and who are active on Liberty University’s campus life as well as the Lynchburg community. This month we feature graduate student, Taylor Barrett.


  • What is your major and when will you graduate?

I earned an M.Div. in Pastoral Counseling this past year and now I am doing Th.M. in Biblical Studies which I should complete this May.

  • Where did you do your undergrad?  What was it in?

I went to Modesto Junior College for my first few years, and then I finished up a B.S. in Business Management through an online school, Western Governors University.

  • Any advice or encouragement to give to your undergraduate sisters and brothers in Christ?

Pray hard and keep your eyes on the cross. It is easy to get distracted and overwhelmed and anxious thinking about all your homework, your future career, trying to find a spouse, etc. But realize, and trust, that God is in control of all that, working it all together for your good, as long as you just be still and let Him
