How do I Register as a Liberty Student?
Live on-campus?
You can register to vote by:
- Filling out your voter registration application and emailing the application to vote@liberty.edu.
Registering to vote with your on-campus address allows you to vote in the Montview Alumni Ballroom on Election Day. You must include your Flames Box number in the residence address line of your voter registration application. You can find your campus address in your housing portal, which you can access in your ASIST account.
*Need help finding your on-campus address? Email residencelife@liberty.edu.*
Example of an on-campus address:
1971 University Blvd. Flames Box 123456
Lynchburg, VA 24515
DO NOT REMOVE the /S/ on the signature line of your application. Without it, an e-signature cannot be accepted.
Live off campus?
You can register to vote by:
- Filling out your voter registration application and emailing the application to vote@liberty.edu.
You cannot vote in the Montview Alumni Ballroom when registering to vote with your off-campus address. Please visit this website to locate your voting precinct so you know where to cast your vote on Election Day.
Not registering with your local Virginia address?
You can vote by:
- Traveling on Election Day to the precinct where you are currently registered.
- Request an absentee ballot to mail in your vote.
See the drop-down menu at the top of this page to locate your state’s laws regarding absentee voting and to confirm or initiate your voter registration in another state.
Why Should I Register in Virginia?
You can always change your voter registration back to your home address when your time at Liberty comes to an end, but students are encouraged to register with their on- or off-campus address while they are here.
Reasons to vote in Virginia:
- During your time at Liberty University, Lynchburg and Virginia are your home.
- Local city and state politics affect many issues, including taxes, emergency responses, and abortion laws.
- Registering to vote locally allows you to have a direct impact in choosing who will represent you in local, state, and federal office during your time in Virginia.
- Elections are held every year in Virginia, giving you four chances to make a difference in the community in which you spend most of your time.
Except for Alaska residents, students may change their voter registration without consequence to their dependency status on tax forms, financial aid, or changes to their driver’s license.
IMPORTANT FOR ALASKA RESIDENTS: Remain registered to vote in Alaska.
Being registered to vote in another state will affect eligibility for the Alaska Permanent Dividend (APD). More details can be found at the Alaska Absence Guidelines and the Student Eligibility Guidelines.
