Educational Requirements

According to the Vermont Department of Education:

The state of Vermont offer the following endorsements.

  • Vermont offers Special Educator (K-21) and Intensive Special Education Teacher (Age 3-21).

Students will need to obtain their Virginia license first to qualify for reciprocity.

Reciprocity

  • Eligibility for licensure through the traditional route  is determined by the completion of a state approved educator preparation program at a college or university through a bachelor, post-baccalaureate or master’s degree program and recommendation for licensure from the institution. Vermont currently has educator reciprocity with all states except: New York, New Mexico, and South Dakota.
  • If you hold a valid, out-of-state, license from a state within the NASDTEC interstate agreement, you are eligible to receive a Level I Professional Educator’s License.
