Educational Requirements

According to the Alabama Department of Education

The state of Alabama offers the following endorsements. 

  • Alabama offers Severe Multiple Disabilities and Specific Learning Disabilities. Alabama does not offer CTE endorsement, and limitations will occur between states. 

Additional Requirements (After Degree Conferral)

  1. Please submit all licensure documents (located on the Gate 4 Checklist) to gate4@liberty.edu. 
  2. Students will need to obtain their Virginia license first to qualify for reciprocity.
  3. Gate 4 will complete a College Verification Form which will be used to apply for Virginia licensure.
  4. After obtaining a Virginia license students can then apply for an Alabama license through reciprocity.

Reciprocity 

Individuals who hold a valid professional educator certificate issued by another state, the District of Columbia, a United States Territory, or the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) may wish to apply for Alabama certification through Certificate Reciprocity. Along with holding a valid professional educator certificate, other ancillary requirements (background clearance, experience, etc.) must be met.
