Educational Requirements
According to the Rhode Island Department of Education:
The Council on Elementary and Secondary Education provides approved updated educator certification regulations that include endorsements.
The state of Rhode Island offers the following endorsements.

Rhode Island offers a Family Consumer Science Certificate (PK-12)
Students will NOT need to obtain their Virginia to license first to gain reciprocity in Rhode Island.
Reciprocity
Reciprocity allows individuals who completed a state-approved out-of-state preparation program or hold valid full out-of-state certificates to pursue RI certification where similar certificate areas exist.
This pathway:
- leads to full RI certification
- recognizes state-approved program completers from outside of Rhode Island
- recognizes full and aligned out-of-state certificates
- requires compliance with current RI testing requirements
