Educational Requirements
According to the Virginia Department of Education:
The state of Virginia offers the following endorsements.

Virginia offers Earth Science Education.
Endorsement requirements. The candidate shall have:
1. Earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university and graduated from an approved teacher preparation program in Earth science;
2. Earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university and completed a major in Earth science, geology, or environmental science with a minimum of 32 semester hours in Earth sciences, including at least one course in each of the following areas: structural geology, petrology, paleontology, oceanography, meteorology, and astronomy/space science; or
3. Earned an endorsement in another science discipline and completed at least 18 semester hours in Earth sciences, including at least one course in each of the following areas: structural geology, petrology, paleontology, oceanography, meteorology, and astronomy/space science.
