Social Studies Education 6-12 (36 Hours) – Alaska

Educational Requirements

According to the Alaska Department of Education: 

The state of Alaska offers the following endorsements. 

  • Alaska offers Social Studies.

Additional Requirements (During Degree Program)

  1. Students will be required to complete four Alaska mandatory trainings.
  2. Students will be required to complete approved Alaska studies coursework and approved Alaska multicultural coursework.

Additional Requirements (After Degree Conferral)

  1. Please submit all licensure documents (located on the Gate 4 Checklist) to gate4@liberty.edu.
  2. Students will need to obtain their Virginia license first to qualify for reciprocity.
  3. Gate 4 will complete a College Verification Form which will be used to apply for Virginia licensure.
  4. Students will be required to pass approved exams.
  5. After obtaining a Virginia license and completing additional training and coursework students can then apply for an Alaska license through reciprocity.

Reciprocity

All applicants who have less than two-years of teaching experience must apply for an Initial teacher certification. Applicants who have at least two years of teaching experience and a valid, regular out-of-state teaching certificate may qualify for a Professional Out-of-State Teaching Certificate.
