Music Education Vocal/Choral PreK-12 (36 Hours) – New York

Educational Requirements

According to the New York Department of Education:

The state of New York offers the following endorsements.

• New York offers General Music (All Grades).

Additional Requirements (During Degree Program)

1. Students will be required to complete two clock hours of coursework or training in school violence prevention and intervention. 
2. Students will be required to complete six clock hours, of which at least three hours must be conducted through face-to-face instruction, of coursework or training in the prevention and intervention of harassment, bullying and discrimination. 

Additional Requirements (After Degree Conferral)

1. 1. Please submit all licensure documents (located on the Gate 4 Checklist) to gate4@liberty.edu.
   2. Students will need to obtain their Virginia license first to qualify for reciprocity. 
   3. Gate 4 will complete a College Verification Form which will be used to apply for Virginia licensure. 
   4. After obtaining a Virginia license students can then apply for a New York license through reciprocity. 

Reciprocity

The Office of Teaching Initiatives can not determine eligibility for certification until an application has been submitted, and a review of your credentials has been completed. 

New York State does not pre-approve educator preparation programs completed in other U.S. States or Territories.
