Child & Family – Montana

LU’s BSSW program offers all the courses and internships necessary to meet education requirements for licensure in Montana* for any of the following credentials. Students are encouraged to meet with their gate advisor by contacting bssw@liberty.edu for course selection and sequencing information to ensure they will meet the requirements for their specific license of choice.

Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker Candidate (LBSW Candidate)

  • Exam Requirement: No exam required.
  • Post-Degree Supervised Experience Requirement: No post-degree supervised experience required before licensure.
  • Additional Requirements
    • Must have an appropriate supervisor.

Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW)

  • Exam Requirement: The candidate must pass an ASWB exam for the appropriate licensure level.
  • Post-Degree Supervised Experience Requirement: In a period of no less than 18 months, the candidate must have completed at least 2,000 hours of Post-Degree experience in social work under the supervision of a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), a licensed master social worker (LMSW), or a licensed baccalaureate social worker (LBSW). This must be concurrent with a minimum of 100 hours of direct supervision at a rate of two (2) hours per 160 work hours.
