Advanced Generalist: General – Florida

LU’s MSW program offers all the courses and internships necessary to meet education requirements for licensure in Florida* for any of the following credentials. Students are encouraged to meet with their gate advisor by contacting msw@liberty.edu for course selection and sequencing information to ensure they will meet the requirements for their specific license of choice.

Certified Master Social Worker (CMSW)

• Exam Requirement: The candidate must pass an ASWB exam for the appropriate licensure level.
• Postgraduate Supervised Experience Requirement: The candidate must have completed at least three (3) years of experience in social work, of which at least two (2) years must be postgraduate experience at the master’s level under the supervision of a certified master (CMSW) or licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). This must be concurrent with a minimum of 100 hours of direct supervision at a rate of one (1) hour every week for 50 weeks per year.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

• Exam Requirement: The candidate must pass an ASWB exam for the appropriate licensure level.
• Postgraduate Supervised Experience Requirement: The candidate must have completed at least two (2) years of postgraduate experience in clinical social work under the supervision of a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), including at least 1,500 of direct client contact. This must be concurrent with a minimum of 100 hours of direct supervision in no less than 100 weeks at a rate of one (1) hour every two weeks.
