Social Studies Education 6-12 – Kentucky

Educational Requirements

According to the Kentucky Department of Education: 

The state of Kentucky offers the following endorsements. 

• Kentucky offers Social Studies.

Additional Requirements (During Degree Program)

1. Students will be required to complete 200 preservice practicum hours. 
2. At Gate 2, students will sign an acknowledgement statement that they have viewed the Kentucky Code of Ethics. 
3. Candidates must have a minimum of 2.75 GPA at Gate 2, and a 3.0 GPA by Gate 3. 
4. Before Gate 3, students will need to pass additional content area exams (GRE, ACT or Praxis CORE/CACE) with passing cut scores. 

Additional Requirements (After Degree Conferral)

1. Please submit all licensure documents (located in the Gate 4 Checklist) to gate4@liberty.edu.
2. Gate 4 will send a program completion confirmation to soekycandidates@liberty.ed to be exited out to the EPSB/KECS system. 

Reciprocity

​Candidates who completed an approved educator preparation program outside of Kentucky may obtain a teaching certificate by meeting requirements outlined in 16 KAR 4:030.

Out-of-state applicants must have completed a state approved teacher preparation program at a regionally accredited educator preparation institution or a state-approved alternative training program. In addition, candidates must comply with the state ancillary requirements such as GPA, testing and internship.
