School Counseling – Vermont

School Counselor  

Vermont requires that applicants for this licensure have a master’s degree in school counseling or a related field. Applicants should also possess skills for serving underrepresented groups, including people of color and LGBTQ students. Prospective school counselors must also complete an internship. Students will need to complete a supervised counseling internship following the master’s degree of at least 600 clock hours. 60 hours will need to be devoted to both school counseling in the elementary (PK-6) grade levels and for the secondary (7-12) grade levels.
