School Counselor

Utah requires applicants who complete an out-of-state program to (1) have a master’s in school counseling accredited by CACREP or another regionally recognized accrediting body that meets Board approved standards for Utah School Counselor Education Programs, (2) hold a NASDTEC Stage 2 or higher license in school counseling from a jurisdiction outside of Utah, (3) complete the Utah State Board of Education License Equivalency Review (LER) Application (https://www.schools.utah.gov/licensing/apply?mid=5257&tid=2) to apply for an Associate Educator License valid for up to three years, and (4) complete the Utah State Board of Education College and Career Readiness Certificate Program within three years of receiving the Associate Educator License to qualify for a Professional Educator License.
