School Counselor
Nebraska requires applicants for this licensure have a master’s in counseling with a specialization in school counseling of at least 36 credit hours. Nebraska also requires a teaching certificate with an endorsement contained in 92 NAC 24; or 006.48D41. If applicants do not have a teaching certificate with an endorsement contained in 92 NAC 24, they must complete at least 12 additional semester hours of professional teacher education coursework in areas like core curriculum design, lesson plan development, classroom management strategies, student assessment, and differentiated instructional strategies. Students are responsible to either earn a teaching certificate with the required endorsement, or complete 12 additional semester hours beyond the master’s.
