School Counseling – Mississippi

School Counselor

Mississippi requires that applicants for this licensure have either

Option One
  • Hold a five-year educator license
  • Complete a master’s degree program in guidance and counseling
  • Praxis Subject Assessment (Specialty Area Test for School Counselor), or
Option Two
  • Complete an approved master’s degree program for guidance and counseling which includes a full year internship
  • Praxis Subject Assessment (Specialty Area Test for School Counselor), or
Option Three
  • Hold National Certified School Counselor (NCSC) credential issued by National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)
  • The School Counseling degree meets the educational requirements via Option 2
