School Counseling – Mississippi
School Counselor
Mississippi requires that applicants for this licensure have either
Option One
- Hold a five-year educator license
- Complete a master’s degree program in guidance and counseling
- Praxis Subject Assessment (Specialty Area Test for School Counselor), or
Option Two
- Complete an approved master’s degree program for guidance and counseling which includes a full year internship
- Praxis Subject Assessment (Specialty Area Test for School Counselor), or
Option Three
- Hold National Certified School Counselor (NCSC) credential issued by National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)
- The School Counseling degree meets the educational requirements via Option 2
