Educational Requirements
According to the West Virginia Department of Education:
The state of West Virginia offers the following endorsements.

West Virginia offers a Principal endorsement.
Additional Requirements (After Degree Conferral)
- Please submit all licensure documents (located on the Gate 4 Checklist) to gate4@liberty.edu.
- Gate 4 will complete a College Verification Form which will be used to add on the Administration and Supervision endorsement to Virginia licensure.
- After obtaining a Virginia license with the Administration and Supervision Add-On, students can then apply for a West Virginia license through reciprocity.
Reciprocity
If you’re a teacher in another state and would like to apply to work in a West Virginia public school, you must submit an official transcript and meet one of the following requirements:
Completed an out-of-state licensure program
To qualify, you must:
- Have completed a program at an accredited institution, which was approved by the public-school licensing agency of that state to lead to the issuance of a public school teaching certificate/license in that state,
- Meet all WV Board of Education (WVBE) Policy 5202 requirements including all WV-required licensure assessments
- Receive the recommendation of the preparing institution.
Reciprocity from out-of-state license
If you have reciprocity through an out-of-state license, you must submit a copy of a valid out-of-state public-school license/certificate.
